Cebu Safari

More and more attractions are popping in Cebu - here's something new, a Safari!

Before anything, Let me just put this out there that there is a major difference between a Zoo and a Safari. In a Zoo, animals are Caged with little to no space/freedom. A Safari is an open spaced area for animals to roam and be in.

We brought our 2 year old daughter here on a Saturday and she was all for it!

With a range of animals to see in hectares and hectares of land, it was a great "green animal escape" from the city. The experience from the start alone made us feel we were really going on a safari trip.

After purchasing your tickets, you'll need to ride on a tram (safari looking jeeps) to get to the first stop.

Right when we got on it, our daughter started exclaiming "Mountain!" because you literally get to see mountains and mountains and mountains. Now, if you come really early, like we did, at around 8-9 in the morning, the first place they bring you to is the garden. It's a good 30 minute walk to go around - a beautiful and peaceful walk, if I may say so.

They have quite a range of Animals, I'll list down the animals that we were able to see below:

  • Orange Bengal Tiger

  • White Tiger

  • Lion

  • Giraffe

  • Donkey

  • Snake (Pythons)

  • Crocodiles

  • Monkeys

  • Parrots (different types)

  • Pigeons (different Types)

  • Emu

  • Capybara

  • Lemur

  • Meerkats

  • Swan

  • Tortoise

  • Hyena

  • Ducks

  • Cheetah

  • Pelicans

  • Blue and Gold Macaw

  • Scarlett Macaw

  • Victoria Crowned Pigeon

  • Camel

  • Kangaroo

  • Zebra

  • Wildebeest

  • Elk

  • Deers

Though there were more animals, like the Orangutans and White Lion (the White Lion has an additional cost of P200 though, apart from the entrance fee) and they have scheduled feedings for some animals and a bird show as well. To fully maximize your experience, I'd really suggest getting there as early as 9AM. You'll be able to see everything by or before lunch time, which would be great so you can watch the shows after, which are all scheduled by and after 1PM.

They have a number of places where you can go eat as well and the prices and serving size are not bad! They even have a buffet that's P300.00/Person - a Filipino buffet, might I add ;)

What's even better is they have umbrella posts around. So if you end up forgetting to bring one, you can make use of their courtesy umbrella's which you can find in most animal stops. Convenient :)

While there is a Tram available to go from stop to the other, you can most definitely walk your way around. There's always another attraction that's just a few steps away and before you realize it, you've walked a good few km's! Great exercise too and great way to release our little one's energy :)
